Viewing logs in Mountain biking!

Another gorgeous day- can't get over this weather! Spent the day up in Switzerland Mountainbiking with Jeff. Started at Celerina (free carpark) and cycled up for 2,15hrs to above Corviglia (dirt road). Then an amazing exposed traverse on single track trail to the Passo Suvretta (30mins) Followed by 45 mins of wonderful , often technical single track downhill until you hit another valley to take a dirt road cruising downhill the rest of the way to the road at Bever, and back to Celerina. Absolutely beautiful ride, exhausting, with a bit of everything for everyone!

Jeff and I headed up from St Moritz biking in a clockwise direction this time, to cycle up the dirt road (circa 1hr) to the top (tough slog!), and then down the fantastic single track trails back to town. (45mins circa)

Headed off biking by myself up in Engadine. Parked the car beside the campgrounds on the left just after Campfer (before St Moritz)- 55mins from home. Biked over to surlej on really nice trails in the woods (up and down) and then it was uphill all the way from there to beside the top funivia station just below Fuorcla Surlej (the pass over the Val Roseg). I was tired and running out of time so decied to take the trail that traversed left from there to descend back towards Champfer instead of going up over the pass and around. However the trail marked as a technical bike trail changed from a fun (but difficult) trail at one point to being a stair case. So of the 1,30hr descent , 45 mins was done wheeling the bike down... :-(( I'll go around next time!

For Pozzo's Birthday a big group of us, including jeff, myself, Pozzo, Cami and mauro, went up to the opening day of the Bike Park at madesimo and spent the morning Downhilling it! Ski lift tickets for the day cost €15 for bikers. There are 3 trails, 2 red and one blue. Great stuff! Mostly very well made trails! A couple of bits on grass which gets dodgy! but the rest in the woods is beautiful. We'll be back regularly I reckon.

Stunning weather after the previous 24 hrs of savagely heavy and continuous rainfall. Blue skies and clear air with nice warm temperatures. Jeff and I spent the first half of the day up in Engadina mountain biking. Did the nice loop again from Maloja up to Ca' d'Starnam/Petpreir and then down the perfect single track trails to Sils. Beautiful fast descent :-)))) Such nice biking all in all.

Note: After all the rain the top section was very wet and muddy in parts, but the main trails for the climb and descent were perfect.

Times: Chiavenna- maloja : 40 mins.

Wonderful afternoon of mountain biking up at Maloja. My first time in the area on a MTB in fact. Did the loop from Maloja up to Petpreir and then down the fantastic single track trails on the other side to Sils, then back along the lower lake trail (which rises and climbs some, with some fun moderately technical riding). Delicious!
